Campfires, s’mores, a flashlight, a jump scare! Spooky stories live deep in our nostalgic psyche, yet learning and telling them requires a special set of considerations. Cover Appalachian spooky repertoire, general technique for spooky genres, how to craft suspense, using sounds effectively, the ethics of getting scary, and how to pivot when it becomes clear that the spooky tale you expected to share isn't sitting right with the audience. All levels welcome.
