We are all storytellers. We all live in a network of stories. There isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.   - Jimmy Neil Smith

Blue Ridge Storytelling Summit

  • 06/27/2026
  • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • 134 Joe Young Road, Burnsville, NC

The Blue Ridge Storytelling Summit, now in its third year, will feature Bob Plott, recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, and a dozen other storytellers. All of the tellers this year also have written books, so we're including a book fair. They will sign and share their books and take a turn on the stage, which is the porch of our 1850 cabin at 134 Joe Young Road, Burnsville. The Summit lasts from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, June 27, and the last hour will be an open mic emceed by local teller Bettina Freese, founder of the monthly Hearts of Appalachia story sharing.
