Our storytellers, both amateur and professional, come from all walks of life – physicist, carpenter, teacher, librarian, entertainer, musician, environmentalist, homemaker to mention just a few. All are continually learning more about stories and about cultivating the traditional art of storytelling for adults, children, and youth. Stories may entertain, instruct, heal, or be just downright fun. Some tell original tales, some tell mountain stories and Jack Tales, other may tell stories from a different heritage: Jewish, Native American, Irish, or Scottish. Most tellers are eclectic, using stories from a variety of sources and for a variety of occasions. Profiles for our performing members are accessible in the Performer Directory.
Our monthly story circle meetings are filled with great stories. New members are guests are always welcome to attend and, if time permits, tell a story. ASC also sponsors storytelling program each year at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway: TELLABRATION!™ in November and a Spring/Summer Show.
