Jim bills himself as a teller of Mountain Stories and Tall Tales, but his stories stretch from the “Fast Bull” Stories about his family and neighbors in the Appalachian Mountains to “Blind Dog Willie” in the streets of New Orleans. There is a major stopover in the early 1960s Civil Rights Movement. Producing the Award Winning CD “The Hanging of Tom Brown.”
The riveting story of eight young people who sat out in an old converted school bus to try to make a difference in the lives of black students by teaching them to read, getting swept up in “Freedom Summer” and the “Selma/Montgomery March” which the two survivors did on crutches.
Jim’s Masonic Biography includes 4 terms as Master of Village Lodge 315 in Miami, Wise Master of Rose Croix, Master of Kadosh, and K.C.C.H. In Scottish Rite. High Priest of Jericho Chapter #11, Master of Adoniram Council #10, Commander of Miami Commandery #13, DD of Dist 1 in all three York Rite Bodies. Governor on Everglades York Rite College. He recently received his KYCH degree from the York Rite.
