|Bio:||"We are born with a love of stories inside us. We literally spend our lives waiting and listening for the next story." Cynthia lives in the former mill village of Bynum, NC with 4 cats, 2 kittens and a "Jack Russell Terrorist." She grew up on a farm in the North Carolina mountains with 6 brothers and sisters and a big extended family! |
Usually the audience picks the stories she tells - random titles out of a hat or an audience favorite - no one knows! She does birthday parties, curated shows for 200, "Storytelling for Grownups," festivals, libraries, toy stores, retirement dinners and farmers markets. "Don't ever miss a chance to go hear her." Julian from Raleigh says. 'Children gravitate to her." says Amanda from Hillsborough. "She is almost magical." says Samantha in Pittsboro. Cynthia takes classes in improv and standup to make sure her performances stay vibrant and engaging.
Cynthia tells true, original, real-life stories for all age groups. She specializes in farm stories from her childhood, her father's and mother's stories of growing up during the Depression, and stories that promote good values and self-worth. Modern-day David and Goliath's - The Odyssey Winnebago-style - Aesops Fables a la Frozen Creek. For small children she tells stories about "Rascal and the willie kitties at my house."
"Storytelling gives meaning to everyday events." she says. "That's one of the reasons that l like doing the stories I do. It reinforces to children that their day-to-day life is special."
