Bio:I am a retired Metho-Baptist (my nomenclature) minister. I retired in 2004. I continue to be active as part-time pastor, Associate, Bible Director. My most memorable experience since retirement: I joined Dr. “patch” Adams, his brother “Wildman" and 30 other wanna-be clowns for 15 days in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Russia in the cold month of November. I’m still cold. Our purpose was to “bring a bit of joy" to the hurting children who resided in orphanages, children’s hospitals and other facilities which cared for such children. There were so many moving experiences it is difficult to name one, but I will try. We 30 clowns visited to “bring a bit of joy” to a five story hospital whose patients had cancer. It was a heart wrenching experience for all of us. As we boarded “da bus” as the children called it and headed out the drive, tears came as we watched the children run from window to window waving to we clowns who had brought a bit of joy to their hearts. They were so joyous. Made us cry because we were told that most of them would never leave the hospital.
I’ll never forget “Patch” and “Wildman.” It was my first trip to Russia as a clown. For Patch and Wildman it was the 24th.
